Delhi Lakshmi Yojana: A Complete Guide to ₹2,500 Monthly Financial Assistance for Women
The Delhi Government has launched the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, one of its biggest social welfare initiatives aimed at strengthening the financial security of economically weaker women. Under the scheme, eligible women will receive Rs 2,500 every month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into their bank accounts. With a budgetary allocation of Rs 5,110 crore for 2026-27, the government expects over 17 lakh women to benefit from the programme. Registration for the scheme is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2026, through an online portal.
While the monthly financial assistance is the most visible feature of the scheme, the government’s objective is to improve women’s economic independence, encourage savings, support healthcare and education, promote skill development, and increase women’s participation in society.

Why the Scheme Matters
The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is more than a monthly cash assistance programme. For many women from low-income households, Rs 2,500 a month can help meet essential expenses such as children’s education, healthcare, nutrition or savings. By placing financial resources directly in women’s hands, the government hopes to strengthen household financial resilience while encouraging greater economic participation.
Eligible women should complete the registration promptly once the portal opens on August 1 and ensure that all supporting documents are accurate and up to date. Timely application and proper documentation will be the key to receiving the benefits without unnecessary delays.
