Swiss Sports Technology Makes India Debut at Bharat Mandapam
Key Highlight
ICY Sports in collaboration with Swiss Green Hockey unveils world’s first “Black Ice” experience and Crystal Green synthetic ice technology at Pavilion B4.
New Delhi, July 30, 2026: India took a decisive step towards the future of winter sports infrastructure on Thursday as Swiss sports technology company Green Hockey, in collaboration with ICY Sports, unveiled its futuristic pavilion at the Sports & Fitness Expo in Bharat Mandapam, showcasing technologies that could redefine the country’s approach to ice and snow sports.
Inside the Pavilion: Black Ice and Crystal Green
The centrepiece of the exhibition is “Black Ice”, a first-of-its-kind immersive transparent skating surface, where visitors experience the visual illusion of skating over a frozen lake through transparent Crystal Green panels mounted above an LED floor. Complementing it is Crystal Green, a 64-square-metre next-generation synthetic ice surface manufactured using recycled plastic that delivers skating performance remarkably close to natural ice while eliminating refrigeration and water requirements. The pavilion also showcases SHARKBLADES technology and sustainable hockey infrastructure solutions designed for year-round use. These technologies are highlighted as flagship attractions of the exhibition.

An Integrated Ecosystem for Winter Sports
Green Hockey AG has developed an integrated ecosystem comprising synthetic ice surfaces, specialised boards, SHARKBLADES and sustainable infrastructure solutions designed to replicate the feel of natural ice while significantly reducing energy consumption and water usage. The company is expanding into emerging markets, with India identified as one of its highest-growth destinations.
The pavilion attracted sports administrators, athletes, infrastructure developers, corporate leaders and technology enthusiasts eager to witness how innovation can make winter sports more accessible.
Leading Up to the Sustainability Conclave
What’s Next: The exhibition serves as a precursor to the International Sports & Sustainability Conclave 2026, scheduled at Bharat Mandapam on August 1, where global policymakers, sustainability experts, sports leaders and innovators will deliberate on building resilient and environmentally responsible sporting ecosystems.
The Conclave has been conceived as a platform to advance sustainable sporting infrastructure, innovation and international collaboration.
