A milestone showcase reflecting two decades of design evolution through luxury cotton, craftsmanship,
and contemporary elegance
Mumbai, 20th March 2026: SUPIMA, the global authority on premium cotton, partnered with AFEW
Rahul Mishra for a fashion showcase at Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI, Mumbai. The showcase brought
together luxury cotton, artisanal craftsmanship, and contemporary design through a refined material
narrative.

The presentation marked a significant milestone in Rahul Mishra’s journey, coinciding with 20 years since
his debut on the NIF Global presents GenNext platform in 2006. This moment commemorated two
decades of sustained design practice, experimentation, and evolution, predating the launch of his
eponymous label in 2013. AFEW reflects on this journey, contemplating the evolution of the designer
while honouring the enduring values that continue to define his work.

Deeply rooted in Rahul Mishra’s long-standing dedication to handloom practices and India’s textile
heritage, the collection integrated traditional craft techniques with a contemporary fashion vocabulary.
SUPIMA cotton forms the foundation of the showcase, highlighting the fibre’s superior softness, strength, and versatility. Expanding this material exploration, the collection also featured lightweight SUPIMA denim, extending cotton’s expression across silhouettes and occasions.

Signature hand embroidery remains central to the collection, reinforcing the atelier’s emphasis on human
labour, precision, and intricate surface storytelling. Design motifs drew inspiration from the cotton
ecosystem including cotton buds, florals, and insects reflected the realities of cotton cultivation.
Elements such as marigolds and mustard flowers, traditionally grown alongside cotton crops to naturally
attract insects away from the cotton plant, were reinterpreted as symbolic design elements within the
Collection.
Bollywood actress Ananya Panday opened the show in a striking all-white ensemble that perfectly
captured Mishra’s garden themed ramp. She wore a glossy oversized blazer paired with a pleated ivory
skirt, layering it over a crisp white shirt adorned with delicate, thematic dragonfly embellishments. She
brought a playful, sassy edge to the runway, working the look for the shutterbugs. Marc Lewkowitz, President and CEO, SUPIMA said, “SUPIMA’s relationship with Rahul Mishra goes back to the very first SUPIMA Design Lab that was organized in Paris 10 years ago. SUPIMA could not be more excited to have that relationship continue and expand to include a full collection of SUPIMA looks for AFEW Rahul Mishra. We look forward to growing this partnership with AFEW Rahul Mishra and RBL and see incredible opportunities in the Indian market which is so dynamic and growing: Working together; the possibilities are endless.”

“Rahul Mishra added, “Twenty years ago, the GenNext platform gave me the courage to imagine a
dif erent future for Indian craft. This showcase with SUPIMA feels like a natural continuation of that
journey. Cotton has always been deeply connected to our country’s textile heritage, and working with
SUPIMA allowed us to explore its lightness, strength, and adaptability in new ways while remaining
rooted in handloom and hand embroidery.”
At Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI, SUPIMA Presents AFEW Rahul Mishra reinforced the platform’s
continued commitment to celebrating craftsmanship-led design, responsible materiality, and the evolving language of Indian fashion on a global stage.
