Designer Sanjukta Dutta presented ‘SENEH, The Affection’ at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) in October 2026. The collection draws on the warmth of home, memory and belonging, and it gives Assam’s sartorial heritage a contemporary reading by bringing together traditional weaving techniques, refined craftsmanship and modern silhouettes.

Affection, Memory and Belonging

SENEH is inspired by the quiet intimacy of affection and the memories that connect generations, and it explores how textiles and emotions are tied together.

A Palette of Muga and Natural Tones

The collection unfolded in a warm palette of Muga, soft neutrals and natural tones, reflecting the golden character of Assam’s celebrated Muga silk. The understated colours gave craftsmanship room to stand out, letting the textiles, thoughtful detailing and fluid silhouettes take centre stage.

On the runway, Mekhela Chadors, dresses and skirts offered a fresh perspective on Assamese dress. Contemporary proportions, fluid draping and considered construction brought movement and ease, while handwoven textiles, traditional Assamese motifs, handcrafted details and delicate surface embellishments kept the collection tied to its cultural roots. Each ensemble reflected the label’s approach of turning heritage into a design language for the contemporary woman.

Textiles as Memory

Beyond the visuals, SENEH carries a personal story about how textiles hold memory, identity and emotion. It presents heritage not as something preserved in time but as a living tradition that evolves with every generation. Familiar textures, subtle natural hues and refined handcrafted details come together in a collection that is intimate in inspiration and contemporary in appeal.

In Sanjukta Dutta’s Words

“SENEH is a very personal collection for me because it comes from the emotions and memories that connect us to our roots. In Assam, textiles are so much more than what we wear; they carry stories of our families, our traditions and the people who have shaped us. With this collection, I wanted to express that sense of affection through the warmth of Muga-inspired tones, the beauty of handwoven fabrics and silhouettes that feel relevant to the woman of today. Presenting SENEH at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI has been an opportunity to celebrate the craftsmanship of Assam while showing how beautifully our traditions can evolve.” — Sanjukta Dutta, Designer

With SENEH, Dutta reaffirmed her commitment to preserving and reimagining Assam’s textile heritage, celebrating handcrafted traditions while embracing contemporary fashion. The showcase brought the warmth of Assamese culture to the runway and showed how heritage keeps finding new relevance through modern design.
