Suneet Varma is back at Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI with his Bridge to Luxury label, SV by Suneet Varma, building on the label’s debut at the event last year. This time the collection is called Kashi, a modern take on the garments, colours, textures and visual language of the city. Actress Nitanshi Goel walked the runway as showstopper, bringing the collection’s contemporary reading of Indian heritage to life.

A City From Dawn to Dusk

The collection is rooted in the experience of Kashi through the day, from dawn to dusk, and it builds towards the evening aarti and its reflection in the Ganges. It treats Kashi as a living expression of Indian culture, heritage and craftsmanship.

The Palette: Reds, Purples, Maroons and Blacks

Kashi gets its look from a rich, deeply Indian palette of reds, purples, maroons and blacks. The colours follow the changing light over the Ganges and the ancient city, from the warmth of the first rays of dawn to the intensity of sunset.

Kashi in the Clothes

The collection draws on the many visual and cultural details of Kashi and turns them into a modern bridge to luxury. References to the city show up in silhouettes, fabrics, embellishments, handwork and craftsmanship, while a strong sense of Indianness runs through the whole line.

It comprises ready-to-wear jackets, dhoti skirts, draped saris, tops, tunics and trousers, detailed with handwork, embroidery and tassels inspired by the everyday charm and rhythms of Kashi.

Indian-Inspired Ready-to-Wear

For Varma, Kashi is also an important step towards a distinctive language for Indian-inspired ready-to-wear, one that stays connected to Indian aesthetics while speaking to the contemporary woman. He likes to carry his Indianness on his sleeve.

“It is extremely important for us to develop a language in ready-to-wear and bridge to luxury that is still rooted in Indian aesthetics. With Kashi, we wanted to explore what dressing up could look and feel like today – taking the richness of our culture, our craftsmanship and our visual heritage, and translating it into clothes that are contemporary, effortless and relevant to the modern woman globally.” — Suneet Varma

Kashi by Suneet Varma was unveiled at Lakmé Fashion Week in October 2026.
